Thirdface - Ministerial Cafeteria

Ministerial Cafeteria is Thirdface's second album, Nashville hardcore dialed all the way into the red and refusing to settle on just one genre to destroy.

The band has built a sound out of collision, punk urgency crashed into grindcore's brutality and noise rock's willingness to let a song fall apart on purpose, and this 2024 record on Exploding in Sound pushes that instinct further than their debut dared. It's aggressive without being predictable, songs that lurch and shift structure mid-attack rather than settling into a riff and staying there, which makes it a genuinely disorienting listen in the best way a hardcore record can be.

Meander lives up to its title while still hitting like a gut punch, structure bending without ever losing momentum. Midian is the record's most punishing single, tight and relentless. Stalkwalk leans hardest into the noise rock side of the band's palette, dissonance doing as much work as the riffs, and Purify closes the album on its most unhinged note, as if the record has been building toward total collapse the whole time.

Twelve tracks that refuse to sit still inside any one label. Hardcore this genuinely inventive doesn't come around often.
